The Rock – “International, Fresh, and Up-Scale”

$$$ INTERNATIONAL/UP-SCALE – $10-$20 – Savory or sweet, salty or spicy, the food is delicious, as well as the variety of wines and artisan beers. The strength of the menu at The Rock is the reliance on local, fresh ingredients. The Chiriqui Highlands provides an abundance of fruits, vegetables and legumes as well as rich dairy products. The best locally-sourced meats, along with a variety of fish and seafood from the coasts are featured on the menu. Preparing dishes that enhance rather than obscure these wonderful ingredients is the chef’s goal. Don’t miss all you can eat BBQ Ribs and Salad on Thursday nights until 8pm. Mike’s Global Grill – “Casual Sports Bar and Grill”

$$ INTERNATIONAL/GRILL – $4-$11 – As one of the only sports bar in town, Mike’s Global Grill is sure to have all the games on, in a fun and laid-back environment, with a great Happy Hour and daily drink specials. The restaurant also features international cuisine with local ingredients, including Falafel Plates, Pad Thai, Chinese Orange Chicken, American-Style Sandwiches, Soups, Salads, and various pizzas. They often have live music on the weekends, and are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the week. Sugar and Spice – “Bakery and Fresh Sandwiches Cafe”

$ BAKERY/CAFE – $0.50-$6 – As Boquete’s premier bakery, providing most of the restaurants in town with daily fresh bread, Sugar and Spice is one of the most popular breakfast and lunch cafes, which offers a delicious menu at a very affordable price. They specialize in artisan breads with European recipes with only natural ingredients, specializing in ciabatta, sourdough, wheat, rustic Italian, multi-grain, baguettes, and many more breads. They also have affordable muffins of various flavors, sandwiches, soups, cookies, quiches, pastries and more, as well as a delicious Mexican-inspired menu with some “Spice”. Retrogusto – “Italian Up-Scale Restaurant”

$$$ ITALIAN/UP-SCALE– $11-$25 – Retrogusto Restaurant & Bar is the first Italian farm-to-table restaurant in Panama. They focus on community, sustainable options, and fresh products. Chef Davide has brought excellent service and amazing recipes to the little town of Boquete. Located in the Arts and Entertainment District up from the Catholic Church. Apizza – “Casual Italian Pizza”

$$ ITALIAN/PIZZA– $4-$12 – A second helping from famous Chef Davide, to offer a casual style pizza and calzone specials. Delicious napoletana style with fresh ingredients. The pizza with zucchini and smoked salmon is a unique and delicious combination. Open Hours: Tuesday-Sunday 3pm-10pm, Closed: Monday.

Restaurant Colibri – “Boquete-Style Up-Scale”

$$$ INTERNATIONAL/UP-SCALE – $8-$20 – A fresh new look to Panamanian food, featuring some of the freshest ingredients in Panama. Providing a constantly changing menu, the culinary experience brings new flavors and combinations to Boquete. Our favorite: the Thai Beef Salad and the Burger. Located behind Isla Verde Roundhouses. La Posada Boquetena – “Casual Argentina”

$$$ ARGENTINE/GRILL/PIZZA – $7-$20 – Since 2009, La Posada has been offering authentic cuisine of Argentina in Boquete with the most extensive variety of cuts on the grill, also specializing in Italian food, Pizza and Seafood for locals and visitors. They provide a large and comfortable dining room, nice bar, and back deck terrace with views of the river and surrounding. The pizza is a delicious choice, including our favorite: The Chiricana Pizza. The Boquete Fish House – “Seafood with Great Prices”

$$ SEAFOOD – $5-$15 – A small charming restaurant over-looking a creek, this restaurant serves up local Tilapia and Trout in a number of different ways, as well as offering delicious and well-priced sandwiches. Take a look at the Specials Board for plates they’re offering that day. Located on the main road down from Plaza Los Establos, across from Sugar and Spice. Hours: Mon-Sat: 11:00am-9:00pm, Sunday: Closed.

Big Daddy’s Grill – “Party in the Back”

$$ AMERICAN– $4-$10 – It’s the American-Panama version of “business in the front and party in the back.” Their menu features American-style seafood, sandwiches, hamburgers, and salads. Located in the center of town on Main Street, in between the Town Square and Plaza Los Establos. Hours: Wednesday-Monday: Noon-9:00pm, Tuesday: Closed. Cash Only.

Art Cafe – “French Cuisine”

$$$ FRENCH/CAFE – $6-$13 – Art Cafe is a French/World Cuisine Restaurant in the north end of the Main street in downtown Boquete, what we call “The Arts and Entertainment District”. In order to find them, you must venture up past the big church just past the intersection at the end of town. They serve fresh delicious food and are perfect for lunch or a romantic dinner in a quaint bistro-style environment. Hours: Mon-Sat: Open, Sunday: Closed.

Central Park – “Panamanian Tipico”

$ PANAMANIAN – $2-$7 – Offering delicious and cheap Panamanian style tipico meal options of pollo asado, pollo guisado, fried chicken, with beans and rice, and a salad. It is a favorite among locals in Boquete, with a new renovation and a nice view of the central park. Located in the Central Park main plaza, inside the vendors market. Open daily for breakfast and lunch only, closes around 3:00pm.

Restaurante Edwin’s – “Panamanian Tipico”

$ PANAMANIAN – $1-$5 – Offering a delicious and cheap Panamanian style tipico meal options of asada, guisado, fried chicken, with beans and rice. Buffet style of point and it goes on the plate. It’s a well-kept secret from tourists, and is a favorite among locals in Boquete. Located on the street parallel to Central Avenue, near Romero and Fletes Chevales, next to Melo. Open Mon-Sat for breakfast and lunch only, closes at 3:00pm. Closed: Sunday. Cash Only. (The restaurant has moved from its previous location so pictures below are not accurate).

Kotowa – “Coffee Shop”

$ COFFEE – $1-$5- As one of the larger coffee farms in Boquete, Kotowa has several coffee shops around Panama, including two in Boquete: one in Plaza Los Establos with Boquete TreeTrek (next to our office), the other attached to the Cefati building: the Tourism Authority Museum on the right side of the road before driving around the curve into Boquete. Gelateria la Ghiotta – “Italian Gelato”

$ GELATO – $1-$5 – Delicious homemade Italian gelato, served up by an Italian couple specializing in flavors such as cafe, pistachio, chocolate, strawberry, mango, and yogurt. YUM! Also, be sure to try the guanabana, certainly not found in Italy. Flavors change daily, so stop in multiple times for different options. Located on Avenue Central near Revilla and Sabrason.
